This workshop will share the craft in Lester's writing for children. He will examine the influence both hearing and seeing well crafted language can have in your student's writing. Lester will lead you on an exploration of the writing that has influenced his work and make close study of the reasons why each craft decision was made.

Lester is Professor Emeritus from Western Carolina University where he taught writing workshop, children's literature and reading. He has received two prestigious awards for excellence in teaching. His most recent publications are Climb Inside a Poem - Reading and Writing Poetry Across the Year (Firsthand, Heinemann 2007) and Cracking Open the Author’s Craft (Scholastic 2007).
